The Japan Water Forum, an international nonprofit organization based in Tokyo is seeking applications from grassroots organizations in developing countries to apply for the 2010 Japan Water Forum Fund. The Fund provides grant support to undertake activities to address water and sanitation issues in developing countries. The Fund has listed specific activities for supporting NGOs. These activities are:
- Introduction of rainwater-harvesting tanks, ponds, digging wells;
- Development of small scale water supply systems;
- Building new toilets and upgrading existing sanitation facilities;
- Prevention of water-related disasters;
- Establishment and encouragement of water-efficient irrigation;
- Solving gender issues on water and sanitation;
- Aquatic environment restoration activities
It has been suggested that these activities should be combined with the capacity-building and awareness component.
The Fund will provide US $1000 per activity. Organizations can submit projects for only one year.
