The May 18 Memorial Foundation is a Korean organization, upholding the principles of human rights and democracy. It provides regular scholarships, awards and fund for NGOs working for the promotion of human rights and democracy. It has recently launched the Grant for Democracy and Human Rights Projects in Asia (GDHRPA) for the year 2009 to support projects and schemes “working for human rights, democracy, civil society and peace.” Under this grant, the Foundation will support grassroots-based NGOs involved in civil movements, international campaign, human rights advocacy, working in conflict zones, networking and even undertaking projects such as developing the database of Asian human rights leaders.
