The AUSAID Human Rights Grant Scheme (2010-11) has set down the following criteria for NGOs to apply for the funding support:
Organisations must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible for funding:
Involved in promoting and defending human rights in an eligible developing country*
*An ‘eligible developing country’ means those countries eligible for Australian Official Development Assistance in Asia, the Pacific, Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and the Middle East.
Have a proven track record in the type of activity the organisation wants funded and/or experience in the country in which the project will take place
Are preferably non-government, although national and regional human rights institutions are not excluded.
