The International Centre for Integrated Mountan Development (ICIMOD) has announced a call for proposals to provide funding under the Abu Dhabi Dialogue Knowledge Forum Small Grants Programme (ADDKF-SGP).
The objectives of SGP are to
(i) to facilitate the quest to increase knowledge about water resources systems and their uses within the realm of the Greater Himalayas, particularly under stress from climate change and other drivers of change, including those arising from population and economic growth
(ii) to facilitate collaboration among knowledge institutions from different countries sharing the rivers of the Greater Himalayas and
(iii) to support them to work together in a collaborative manner.
The outcome of the SGP is expected to:
(a) initiate new knowledge generation,
(b) expand current research activities across boundaries, and
(c) disseminate knowledge within the region.
The priority research topics of interest are:
1. Vulnerability, adaptation and impacts of climate change;
2. Integrated ecosystem and river basin management, including benefit sharing;
3. Upstream-downstream impacts of water storage projects, covering both natural and artificial water storage systems;
4. Management of water for enhancing food security.
Institutions eligible for submission of a proposal can be academic, NGOs, or governmental institutions (in cases where they also play such a function) based in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Nepal, or Pakistan. There is a fixed upper limit of US$150,000 for each grant request, but it is recommended that financial proposals be in the range of US$50,000–100 000.
