The Global Health Council is seeking nominations for the Jonathan Mann Award for Global Health and Human Rights which will be bestowed annually to a leading practitioner in health and human rights. The Award comes with a financial award to support the recipient’s work in global health and human rights.
The Award will be given at the 2011 Annual International Conference on “Securing a Healthier Future in a Changing World” from 13 to 17 June, 2011 to be held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C.
In reviewing the nominees for the Jonathan Mann Award for Global Health and Human Rights, the following criteria will be considered and evaluated:
- Practical work in the field and in difficult circumstances.
- Actual relevance to the linkage of health with human rights.
- Predominant activities in developing countries and with marginalized people.
- Evidence of serious and long-term commitment.
- Potential for the Mann Award to strengthen the nominee’s work.
- Potential for the nominee to raise the profile of the Mann Award itself.
- Potential for attracting additional resources to support health and human rights work.
The nomination deadline for the Jonathan Mann Award is Saturday, January 15, 2011.
