King Baudouin Foundation has launched the second call for proposals to provide financial support for projects implementing community-based programs using football to fight HIV and AIDS. In its first call for proposals, which announced in December 2009, it had selected 26 projects from more than 16 countries across the continent and provided an overall funding of €374,000.
“The goal of this call for proposals is to support football-based programs that deliver education on HIV/AIDS with the aim of preventing more young people from contracting the disease and reducing the stigma which surrounds it. Grants will be open to all African based initiatives.
Special attention will be paid to applications that, either directly or indirectly, address girls as the most vulnerable segment of the population.” Projects that are innovative, collaborating and focused will be also valued.
