The Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs from its development cooperation budget is providing opportunity for the Netherlands Fellowships Programme and it is contractually managed by the Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education (Nuffic). “The overall aim of the NFP is to help alleviate qualitative and quantitative shortages of skilled manpower within a wide range of governmental, private and non-governmental organizations. This by offering fellowships to professionals to improve their capacity to contribute to the development of their employing organizations.”
Although the fellowship is offered to an individual, it is important that the training takes places within the purview of the organization. It is necessary for the applicant to get the nomination of the organization where he/she works and also ensure that the training is carried out in the interest of building its capacities.
Fellowships are available for persons from developing countries (there are 61 countries listed out under the fellowship). Applicants can opt for individual training, which includes short-term courses, Master’s Course and PhD or they can also prefer to be part of group training for refresher courses. There are different eligibility criteria for different categories. Preference for the fellowship is given to women and candidates from the Sub-Saharan region.
The fellowship will provide a salary to the selected candidates and can also contribute towards the cost of tuition fees, visas, travel, insurance, thesis research etc. There are different deadlines available for different fellowships in different countries. For more information, visit this link.
