The Open Society Institute’s (OSI) recent call for applications under its Human Rights and Governance Grants Program is aimed at increasing legal advocacy to promote women’s rights issues in Central Europe, the former Soviet Union, and Mongolia.
The program seeks to encourage the women’s movement in the region to engage in comprehensive and systematic monitoring and strategic litigation in order to push for better enforcement of international women’s rights standards.
Prior to sending a full proposal, potential applicants should submit a brief concept paper of no more than 2-3 pages to determine whether projects meet the Human Rights and Governance Grants Program’s current funding priorities and guidelines.
The concept paper should include: a brief description of the project, planned activities, methodology, and goals; information about the applicant organization; and estimated overall budget and timeframe for the project.
The Human Rights and Governance Grants Program accepts proposals on an ongoing basis. However, decisions on complete grant applications are made by the OSI Sub-Board for Law and Human Rights. The next Sub-Board meeting is on April 30, 2011. Deadline for submitting proposals to be considered on this meeting is March 1, 2011. For more information, visit this link.
