Ploughshares Fund, the largest grantmaking foundation in the U.S. dedicated exclusively to security and peace funding is open to accepting grant applications from organizations and individuals working to build a safe, secure, nuclear weapon-free world.
There are very restrictions in its grantmaking as there are no geographical limitation on its grants, funds direct lobbying programs, makes grants to individuals but does not fund the production of films, videos, books or the research and writing of academic dissertations.
In order to sustain the momentum created by these new nuclear policy efforts, Ploughshares Fund invests in the people and organizations working to “Promote the Goal of Eliminating Nuclear Weapons,” “Prevent the Emergence of New Nuclear States” and “Build Regional Security In Key Areas of Concern.”
The Board of Directors meets three times each year to award grants. Ploughshares Fund staff may also consider requests for emergency funding on a discretionary basis.
The next deadline for proposals will be March 15, 2011. For more, visit this link.
