Mangroves for the Future (MFF) and International Union for Conservation of Nature(IUCN) offers funding for Small Grant Programme in India. The aim of this project to support local community action for the restoration and management of coastal ecosystems and their use on a sustainable basis. MFF further promotes research based SGPs to provide a scientific foundation for informed coastal planning, policy and management. Small Grant project budgets will range from USD 10,000 to USD 20,000 for a duration of 12 to 18 months
Funding will be primarily provided for projects according to the geographical selection defined in the MFF India National Strategy and Action Plan (NSAP), including Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Orissa, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. SGP will support projects which-
- Promote innovative community based coastal rehabilitation projects
- Build community resiliences
- Build local capacity to implement sustainable development strategies
- Create public awareness on environmental issues as an integral part of the project
- Address livelihood, income, equality and gender based concerns
- Demonstrate potential for replication or scaling-up and co-financing
- Create an impact on policy at National/State/District levels, for Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM)
Eligibility & Criteria-
- The Small Grant programme will support small-‐scale coastal restoration and management efforts, prioritized, designed, and where possible implemented by local communities, small scale business or research organisations. Projects can address either a pressing issue pertaining to community resilience and/or coastal biodiversity management/research aspects in India.
- Proposals submitted by non-governmental organizations (NGOs), community based organizations (CBO), research & teaching agencies, private enterprises, universities, government led research agencies and other civil society organizations will be considered.
