Schwab Foundation’s Social Entrepreneur of the Year – Africa 2011 is an open competition for organizations demonstrating innovation, sustainability, direct social impact, reach and scope and replicability in their efforts. It has been established to recognize outstanding social entrepreneurs around the globe, an initiative of The Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship.
The Regional Search in Africa is open to all organizations in the region, except those whose headquarters or main activities are based in any North African country or in South Africa (where a national competition takes place annually).
There are a host of benefits in winning this competition for organizations including an opportunity to be invited to participate in the World Economic Forum and connect to business leaders, key politicians, civil society members and media representatives of the region; pro-bono consulting services and scholarships to executive education courses at world-class institutions such as Harvard Business School, Stanford University and INSEAD; inclusion in the Schwab Foundation network of social entrepreneurs; and Excellent finalists or winners under 40 years of age will also be nominated to the Young Global Leaders (YGL) network of the World Economic Forum.
