Schwab Foundation’s Social Entrepreneur of the Year – Africa 2010 is an open competition for organizations demonstrating innovation, sustainability, direct social impact, reach and scope and replicability in their efforts. It has been established “to recognize outstanding social entrepreneurs around the globe, an initiative of The Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship.”
“The Regional Search in Africa is open to all organizations in the region, except those whose headquarters or main activities are based in any country in Sub-Saharan Africa (except South Africa where a national competition takes place annually).”
There are a host of benefits in winning this competition for organizations including being presented with the award during a key plenary sessions of the World Economic Forum, participating in the regional meetings of the World Economic Forum, inclusion in the Schwab Foundation network of leading social entrepreneurs, possible nomination to the forum of Young Global Leaders, possible nomination to the global Agenda Councils and being eligible to be part of the Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneur delegation to the Annual Meeting of World Economic Forum held every year in Davos, Switzerland.
