The main objective of this training programme is: to enhance the participants’ managerial efficiency by increasing their knowledge in all the essential elements of a modern seed industry. The programme will broaden the participants’ knowledge of modern plant breeding and seed industry, and improve their understanding of organisation management and modern technology in the complete chain from plant breeding via control to marketing.
The programme is divided in two phases and an intermediate phase between the two phases. The first phase will take place in Alnarp and Stockholm, Sweden, between September 5–30, 2011. The intermediate phase will consist of the participants’ work on their Projects of Change in their respective home countries. Phase 2 will be located in one of the participating countries between March 12–23, 2012. Individuals working within agriculture and the seed industry can apply to participate in this programme. The participants may come from either the private-, public- or NGO sectors.
SIDA will cover the costs of training, participation fee and accommodation for participants. However, there will be no support for international travel from and to Sweden during the first phase. In the second phase, SIDA will cover the travel of participants for the training programme held in one fo the participating countries.
