The “The Rights of the Child – A Practical Approach” training programme’s major topics are:
- The ombudsman as an institution
- The work of the Children’s
- Ombudsman in Sweden
- Different ways to implement the
- CRC
- The CRC from a Swedish perspective
- in the international arena
- The CRC at an international level
- Education through networks
- Participants’ own project planning
- Trafficking and Child Prostitution
- Child Justice
- Specific interests
The training programme also seeks applicants to present a proposal for change project on children’s rights. The project can be about a training with local authorities to enhance child perspectives and child-focused interests. This proposal will serve as a one of the grounds for the programme and has to be developed during the Phase 1. The development of this proposal is only for gaining an understanding and the training programme will not provide any financial support for this. Participants applying for the training should be nominated by their organization. The criteria for the selection of participants are:
- The nominating organisation’s areas of work
- The applicant’s position within the organisation
- The applicant’s area of work
- The applicant’s proficiency in English
- The applicant’s own project proposal
All the participants admitted into the programme receive a grant covering the costs of participation for both Phase 1 and 2. The grant covers completely all the expenses related to the programme such as lectures, literature, documentation, study visits and certain social activities, travel to and from Sweden, accommodation in a single room, meals and a daily allowance. All the participants receive an insurance covering emergency illness.
