d). Brief description of the mission, vision & objectives of the HOPE
Mission of HOPE: Focus on rehabilitation and vocational training of disabled and mentally handicapped children, child victims of abuse, domestic violence, refugee children, children of sex workers, slum children and street children.
Vision of HOPE: Help for under-privileged kids, irrespective of race, religion, caste, or political persuasion in the fields of education, health and nutrition and sustainability. HOPE provides emergency aid and conducts campaigns against the most flagrant violations of Children’s rights.
Objectives of HOPE: 1) Education 2) Health and Nutrition 3) Sustainability 4) Micro-Enterprise Development (MED) through Income-Generation Skills/Training
Education
HOPE is committed to provide Indian children with the education they need to become productive members of the community. Education for children means access to more opportunities, better paying jobs and increased literacy rates in communities. HOPE raises community awareness about the importance of educating children and strengthening the capacities of children, parents, and teachers in order to maintain educational programs. In addition to encouraging school-based programs, HOPE works with community members and families to develop solutions to obstacles standing in the way of basic education for children like the lack of classroom facilities, lack of teachers, lack of school supplies and gender inequality.
Micro-Enterprise Development through Income-Generation Skills/Training for Parents
To create a long-term cycle of self-reliance, families need sustainable ways to generate income. Initiatives like Micro-Enterprise Development (MED) provide lasting solutions to help the "poorest of the poor" learn to provide for themselves and jump-start the economy of their community. HOPE trains its beneficiaries on “how to break the cycle of poverty”? MED programs encourage community members to work with HOPE to develop new marketable job skills. Community members purchase the materials they need to start and grow their income and reinvest back into their small businesses. The MED programs in India are all community based. This MED program is designed to provide training in micro-enterprise skills and credit loans for the Parents of the Kids and their communities. The majority of participants in HOPE’s MED program are females.
Health (HIV/AIDS) and Nutrition:
Investing in health and nutrition programs means better health for families and children long before they are born. Healthy children mean a healthy and sustainable workforce. Health and Nutrition programs run by HOPE are designed to reduce malnutrition and to strengthen children's bodies and their minds. HOPE focuses on prenatal and natal care, medical treatment for children, as well as HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment. Interestingly, HOPE concentrates on the at-risk kids of Sex-Workers in the 25 Major Towns of Guntur & Krishna. The Primary Focus of HOPE is to avert the kids of sex-workers turning into sex-workers by suggesting alternative source of employment for the sex workers and schooling opportunities for their kids.
Sustainability: Our experience in Andhra Pradesh, India has shown that our efforts are multiplied and are long lasting if we help others develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to reproduce and replicate the projects we help them start. It is more sustainable and lasting to teach, encourage, and train people to do things for themselves. If a community invests in a project physically, emotionally and economically, they are more likely to appreciate and value it. Having local perspective and knowledge of the community incorporated into the process means that it is more likely to be culturally appropriate. We help local communities in Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh State, India to identify their needs, and then work with them to see what resources are available locally. As is often the case, there may be a lot of manpower in the communities we assist, but few materials and required skill sets. HOPE's approach is to allocate responsibility to the community for providing the land and labour, and we fund the materials.
e). Brief description of the type of activities and achievements of the Partner Organization
HOPE has transformed impoverished neighborhoods into fully functioning sustainable ones. Our Staff possesses locally registered experts in the area of international and community development, who are chosen through proven test-record of Social Work.
Through our partnership, HOPE develops participatory programs that build a community's ability to create and manage sustainable improvements. We help community members’ gain the skills needed to think about and manage workable solutions for their problems, themselves. HOPE employs the PLA (Participatory Learning Approach) and PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal) for its targeted kids to strengthen their capacities by providing direction, guidance and advice. It also plays a role in monitoring the project activities and assisting the partners in evaluating the impact of their programs.Since 2005, HOPE has been working in 2 Districts of Andhra Pradesh (India) and 25 villages.

2. HOPE’s Project: Shelter for Kids of Sex Workers of Andhra Pradesh State: HOPE Not-For-Profit Organization would like to submit its project proposal of Shelter-Home for the Kids of Sex Workers of Andhra Pradesh State for the kind consideration of STARS Foundation Awards,2011. The Duration of Project is 5 years
3. Project Location:
The Kids of the Sex-Workers of 25 Major Municipalities of the Districts of Guntur and Krishna
a). Provide general information on the area & community where the project will take place. With over a billion people, India is the world's largest democracy today. But more than 75% of the population lives in villages and depends on subsistence agriculture. India is basically an agrarian society having most of its citizens are illiterate and ignorant and are believers of Karma (Theory of Pre-Destination). However, it has been estimated that over 350 million people in India, live in "absolute poverty" (Below the Poverty Line) and that the country has the highest number of child laborers. HOPE therefore has been concentrating on such areas where instances of children dropping out of school because of poverty and being forced into Employment /Trafficking/ Prostitution are high. The Geographical jurisdiction of HOPE NFP is the two districts of Guntur and Krishna of the State of Andhra Pradesh in South India.
The Current Situation of the Project: The kids of the sex-workers are classified into boys and girls. The male-kids of these sex-workers end up as pimps after growing up. For girls, the outlook is even worse as they are likely to be beaten, drugged and sold to a brothel. And the female kids end up as sex-workers after growing up. After a survey of one long year 2009, HOPE has taken initiative of procuring the statistics of these sex-workers of all the 25 major municipalities of Guntur and Krishna Districts. Later HOPE has conducted a two-day workshop-seminar for the targeted sex-workers and the following action plan is proposed:
1) Free Admission of the Kids into State and Federal Government’s Orphanages or Boarding Homes: Segregation of these kids from their Sex-Worker-Mothers at the infancy stage of kindergarten and getting them admitted in boarding homes/orphanages sponsored by charities. Environment (Sexually-Perverted and Sexually-Polluted) plays a crucial role in the upbringing of a child. All the Participants have opined that it would do a world of good for the kids to stay away from their parents (Sex-Workers). This responsibility is ushered to the NGO/NFP of HOPE.
2) Monthly Visits: The Kids should not visit their sex-worker-parents until they finish their high-school education and instead the Parents will visit their kids once in a month.
3) Motivation of these Kids to resort to Vocational Training ASAP (As Soon As Possible) The Kids of Sex-Workers should be highly motivated to settle as early as possible in their lives so that the tendency ( to emulate their infamous sex-worker parents (prostitutes/gigolos) is ripped in the bud itself.
4) Facilitator & Confidential Mentor: HOPE should act as a Facilitator in a highly confidential manner to mediate between these kids and their erstwhile parents. In other words, HOPE should never reveal the true identity and the infamous profession of these sex-workers to their respective kids as it could result in grave consequences of social stigma, insults and hardships and the kids may have to face humiliating experience and may return to the family business of prostitution, all over again!!!
5) Concept of SSWK (Shelter for Sex-Worker Kids): During Schooling time, the kids reside in their respective boarding homes but during their vacation time the kids cannot and should not go back to the homes of their sex-worker-parents and so HOPE provides an alternative Shelter-Home. This Shelter provides rehabilitation for 250 Kids during the time of Vacation (Quarterly/Half-Yearly/Annually) for these Special Kids. Wherever possible, the children are reunited with their families. They are welcomed to the Shelter-Home. At the home they are given counseling, health care, food and clothing, picnics and recreational outings. To help them ease back into regular schooling, they are given an hour of informal education daily. They are also introduced to budgeting and saving and each child has a savings account opened for them. For the older children they offer vocational training and help with finding employment.
6) Medical Emergency: Apart from the Vacation Time, if these special kids get sick, and if their parents cannot attend to their medical emergency needs and ipso facto the obligation lies with the HOPE as a replacement or alternative for their parents and the kids shall be accompanied by the HOPE staff into the SSKW, with immediate effect. And after the recovery process (the medical expenses will be borne by their parents), the kids shall be sent be sent back to their Boarding Homes for the persuasion of their education.
HOPE has been working with committed and competent Staff over a period of 5 years, in "a partner in development" rather than the "donor provider approach", addressing the issues of children and poverty. Due to this partnership, 85% of children in the operational villages of Guntur and Krishna Districts have had access to formal and informal education systems and there has been a tangible impact among their families and the communities as well. More female students from our programs are now in colleges completing degrees in Science/Arts, Hotel Management (Culinary Arts) and Humanities, Teaching, Nursing, Lab-Technology, Neo-Natal and Critical Care Unit, Engineering and Information Technology.
3. Target Group
Brief Description of intended beneficiaries of proposed intervention (Characteristics & Number).
Almost 250 boys and girls (Age-Group of 5-15) of the 398 sex-workers are the intended beneficiaries hailing from 25 Major Municipalities of the 2 Districts of Guntur and Krishna. The two buildings will be hosting the boys and girls separately giving shelter to 142 boys and 108 Girls, respectively. Boys will be looked after by Male Wardens and the Girls are looked after by Female Wardens.
4. Project Design
a). Give a short analysis of the problem the project is expected to address.
The project addresses the crucial problems of Rehabilitation and Education and Livelihood Opportunities for the most vulnerable kids of Sex Workers of Indian Society.
b). What is the Purpose of the project? The purpose is Two-Fold:
Long-Term Purpose: The Purpose of the Project is giving Shelter and Hope for Respectable and Sustainable Livelihood through Education and Vocational Training even if these kids happen to be the Sex-Workers’ Kids.
Short-Term Purpose: Saving the Kids not to become Pimps and Prostitutes
c). How is the project going to reach this purpose? Explain chosen methods and strategies.
Staff Selection Criteria: HOPE employs the coordinating staff that is collar made for this purpose of rehabilitation and education of these special kids. Selection Criteria for the HOPE Staff is the best-suited for this purpose.
The infra structure: HOPE possesses a three storied building for the triune purpose of 1) Ground Floor for Office 2) First Floor for Boys and 3) Second Floor for Girls and the Cellar is exclusively meant for Parking of the Staff Vehicles and the Visitors.
Food and Clothing: The State and Federal Governments freely sponsor the Food and Clothing of these Special Kids as part of the Annual Budgetary Concerns.
Indoor Staff (2 Warden for Girls and 2 Warden for Boys): HOPE NFP employs two wardens separately during day time and Night Time. In case of Medical emergency one warden will do overtime and will cover both day time and night time.
Outdoor Staff/Mobile Staff : 4(2 Male and 2 Female): In case of Medical Emergency, for safety reasons the kids have to be accompanied by the HOPE Mobile Staff to be brought to the SSWK (Shelter for Sex workers’ Kids)
d). what are the expected positive sustainable effects of the intervention for the beneficiaries?
1) After receiving five years of primary education ( Class 1 to Class 5) the kids can easily earn their part-time job of Janitor, Plumber, Carpenter, Gardener, Sweeper, Electrician, Tailor, Painter, etc. for boys and a) Hand Embroidery b) Basket Making c) Doll Making d) Lace Work for Girls.
2) If the kids are good at academic studies, then the kids can easily excel in their respective studies and can achieve a satisfctory academic career and can go as many places as possible.
3) Education can fetch a source of permanent and sustainable livelihood and once the kids start earning their livelihood in a respectable manner, they will not retreat from this respectable path and can easily avoid the tendency to emulate their sex-worker parents.
4) An educated kid is always an asset for the Society as well as for the family and the kid will not turn as a Liability (burden as anti-social-element) for the Indian society.
5. Duration
a).Give an outline of projected duration of intervention with yearly development goals.
Year 1: The Fundamentals (Letters and Numbers, Vegetables, Fruits, Colouring)

Asat Development Foundation is a Non-Governmental Organization that was founded in 2007 and formally registered in 2010. The Organization is based in Samburu County, under the New Constitution of Kenya, formerly Samburu District, with development projects in Samburu, Laikipia and Baringo, and also has a fundraising satellite office in Nairobi.
It is a Non-Governmental advocacy, development and relief organization that is dedicated to working with indigenous, marginalized and pastoralist communities in Kenya to better their livelihoods and fight injustice. This is with the aim of making the communities have a better understanding of their environment, making use of the available resources; human, physical and otherwise, for their own advancement.
These are communities who are facing the social process of becoming or being left out on the periphery of common provisions to enable them develop due to environmental, political, economical and social reasons amongst others. They face major challenges such as poor infrastructure, inadequate healthcare, lack of educational institutions and poor communication networks among other forms of hardships associated with their living conditions.
Pastoralists are people who depend for their living primarily on livestock. They inhabit those parts of the world where the potential for crop cultivation is limited due to lack of rainfall, harsh terrain or extreme temperatures. In order to optimally exploit the meager and seasonally variable resources of their environment and to provide food and water for their animals, many pastoralists are nomadic or semi-nomadic.
An important characteristic of pastoralists is their close relationship with their animals. The identity of pastoralists is based on the close association with their livestock that forms a key component of their social and ritual life. By keeping animals under conditions that are close to the wild, but giving them the benefit of protection and health care, pastoralists represent a cultural counterpoint to the otherwise industrialized animal production
Pastoralism represents a sustainable method of utilizing certain types of ecosystems including deserts, arid and semi-arid areas in Kenya. In fact, continued utilization of these arid lands very much depends on viable pastoral systems. Nevertheless, pastoralists have come under pressure due to a variety of circumstances that include population growth, environmental degradation, and unsound development and trade policies. Gradual encroachment of agriculture on their grazing territories and the privatization of former communally owned land are undermining their existence.
The pastoralist communities who occupy the arid and semi-arid regions of Kenya include;
The Maa Speaking Plain Nilotes;- Maasai, Samburu,
Turkana,
Cushitic communities; Somali, Oromo, Rendille, Borana,
Other Plain Nilotes;- Pokot, Marakwet, Tugen
Vision
To advance the social and economic status of indigenous groups enhancing their development through capacity building
To provide a forum through which indigenous communities can engage and participate actively in development
Accountability and transparency
Gender equity
Social responsibility
Integrity
Professionalism
Collaboration
Transformational development is the process through which communities identify and overcome the obstacles that prevent them from living life in all its fullness. Asat Development Foundation partners with these communities to improve their lives by providing a range of interventions tailored to the context, including programs in education, health, economic development, microfinance, agriculture, water and sanitation. Through this partnership, the communities access the knowledge and resources needed to improve their well-being overcome poverty and its sequels. By helping community members help each other, Asat Development Foundation ensures that the process of positive change continues long after development staff has left.
Asat Development Foundation engages institutions, donors and the general public to address the national problems that perpetuate poverty. Advocacy empowers communities to speak up for their rights, locally and globally. Certain policies do not take the interests of the immediate communities at heart thus the need to make their needs be heard, besides suppressing them. The only solution to such is for communities to demand an end to such injustice and inequality. Asat Development Foundation works to empower communities to know and to speak up for their rights at local, and national levels. In situations where such community-led advocacy is not possible, the foundation takes the voices of those living in poverty to those decision-makers with the power to change unjust policies and practices.
Asat Development Foundation is poised to help with immediate needs like food, water, and shelter when disaster strikes and to help communities to recover and prevent future catastrophes. Medical relief is also key in handling common health problems faced by the said marginalized communities.
Asat Development Foundation seeks to address the marginalization of these communities in matters of governance and seeks to make them have a better understanding of how to make use of government machinery to address their problems. This is through community education, and advocacy where deemed necessary. Good citizenship is also stressed as it makes the community appreciate governance.
The issues covered include;
Education on current issues in governance including development policies, economic strategies, basic human rights and harmonization of prevalent cultural practices with the laws of the land
Helping the community identify forums through which they can engage and participate in governance, enabling them voice and articulate their issues.
Creating awareness of the presence and usage of devolved funds, meant for community development and demanding for the accountability of the same
Owing to the changing times and population–resource dynamics brought about by population growth and urbanization, there has been a gradual cultural change from traditional pastoralism to a more or less sedentary lifestyle that is semi-nomadic and demands permanent settlement. However, change to and adoption of more or less modern housing facilities has been slow and virtually nonexistent in some areas. Permanent housing that is both functional and relatively comfortable can go a long way in transforming the lives of these communities. Asat Development Foundation working in partnership with other likeminded and corporate organizations, not forgetting professionals, has taken the initiative of providing the communities with building materials and educating them on how to make simple building materials from locally available resources. This has borne an ambitious project to provide simple housing units from inter-locking bricks with galvanized roofing.
Arid and semi arid settlements present a problem which is lack of food security and thus poor nutrition. This is due to erratic and inadequate rainfall patterns in a culture that hugely depends on rain fed agriculture and harsh terrain that supports poor soil which in most cases is either unproductive or absent due to erosion. Dependence on livestock which is also prone to changing climatic conditions also poses a threat to food security for the said reasons, Asat Development Foundation has the following intervention programs in partnership with likeminded and corporate groups;
Providing training in and encouraging the cultivation and of short term food crops using optimal production methods best suited to the arid and semi arid areas in question. This has seen the initiation of the Green house project tailored for the women for production of vegetables in controlled environment.
In partnership with the government and other aid groups, provision of relief food in especially critical situations.
Cultural bias has put women in these communities at the very center of making life in these harsh environments worthwhile. This is right from child bearing, through child care, family nutrition, shelter provision and even sourcing for economic power. Despite the very important role they play, women have somehow been marginalized in these principally patriarchal community settings. The problems faced by these women include; lack of equal property ownership rights, lack of or very little formal education, cultural malpractices and inadequate health care amongst others. Asat Development Foundation has identified the major setback areas and has come up with possible solutions for the said problems which include;
Adult literacy classes
Small business skill education- making of cultural artifacts which are marketed and sold to provide income
Awareness of cultural malpractices and encouraging the said communities to abandon them through education via community based organizations and other stake holders
Family planning awareness and encouragement of smaller family units that are easy to support
Children in these areas too are faced by problems special to their setting and do not have the privileges that their counterparts in urban areas for instance, enjoy. There is a need therefore to empower them through education which will open up avenues for change and better productivity. Asat Development Foundation has for this reason set up initiatives that will promote the rights of these children to basic education amongst others. They include;
Encouragement of parents to take their children to school as the government provides free basic and primary education
Provision of school uniforms, stationery and furniture in collaboration with other stake holders and organizations who have the needs of these children in mind
Provision of needs special to the girl child e.g. sanitary towels and discouraging harmful cultural practices that are a draw back to her education such as FGM and early marriages
Under this program Asat Development Foundation runs a community radio station known as Serian FM in Maralal which is an initiative of Reto Women Samburu Chapter. The community radio started off as an economic activity for the women but it has turned out to be an effective and efficient medium of communication and a useful tool for development.
The station runs a number of development programs, important announcements. It is also useful in information dissemination as it is cost effective, non discriminatory especially for marginalized groups such as women and the youth. Through the community radio, ASAT networks with development partners in areas of interest.
Insecurity is a common feature in these marginalized communities. It is majorly due to competition for the scarce pasture land and water points, loss of livestock through droughts and the subsequent need to restock by raiding neighboring communities, and cultural beliefs that encourage warfare. Asat Development foundation seeks to curb this problem by educating the community on cohesion. This also includes undertaking pesce initiatives in collaboration with other stake holders through;
Educational forums
Inter-community events to promote cohesion and peace such as sporting events
Media campaigns in concert with media houses
The need to conserve the environment in the otherwise harsh arid and semi arid areas cannot be understated lest they are rendered totally unproductive and uninhabitable. This includes animal wildlife that is a major tourism attraction providing the much needed income alternative.
Asat Development foundation in concert with other stakeholders and corporate bodies has the following programs seeking to achieve environmental conservation;
Tree planting in an effort to create vegetative cover that checks on soil erosion besides providing future raw material and platform for other economic activities such as bee keeping
Educating the communities on peaceful coexistence with wildlife
Water conservation through rain harvesting and storage in tanks
Asat Development foundation seeks to create capacity building and economic empowerment via various projects such as;
The Green House initiative for production of food crops for both subsistence and sale to earn a living
Encouragement of cultural artifacts production which are a tourist attraction besides generating income
Poultry farming for income generation besides food
In concert with microfinance institutions, help the community identify viable economic undertakings and get funds for organized groups
The foundation recognizes the central importance that good health plays in the overall need to bring about livelihood improvement thus community development. For this reason, Asat Development foundation the following intervention programs to promote both health seeking behavior and offer basic health care in concert with other stakeholders;
Health education on common health problems and how to avoid them
Health camps to provide free medical checkups and treatment
Provision of basic medical supplies to local dispensaries e.g drugs, dressings, etc.
Family planning awareness
HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns
Asat Development foundation works as a channel and in partnership with the following stakeholders in an effort to realize their objectives as stipulated in the thematic areas outlined in the preceding section;

ASAT DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION
Achievements
Below are some of the projects that ASAT DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION has managed to accomplish and intending to achieve as outlined in the thematic areas.
Agriculture
15 greenhouse tunnels measuring 8m x30m have been constructed for the community groups and have been planted with various crops the main ones being tomatoes which have become a source of food and income generating activity .The community has been able to improve its food security and also create some kind of employment for the unemployed youth and women in the community. This has also improved the nutrition of the community since the green vegetables are now readily available and less costly.
The organization has also introduced drip irrigation within various groups as a way of improving food security for the community. one of the major advantages of the drip irrigation is that water which is a scarce commodity in the semi-arid Samburu district can now be well utilized because the drip irrigation uses less water.
Horticulture
ASAT development foundation has introduced Floriculture (flower farming) in Samburu District. Over 3 acres of land has been put under MOBIDICK flower which is a drought resistant flower for export and we expect the groups will start harvesting the flower in the next one month. The organization aims to increase the acreage under the flowers so as to make floriculture a serious agribusiness activity for the community members through their groups.
The foundation aims to also increase the number of women groups using greenhouse farming through the construction of thirty more greenhouses once funds are available, since the organization has been able to put in place a network of people willing to buy the tomatoes produced by the farmers.
The foundation is also in the process of helping the community/ farmers come up with a co-operative society that will be giving them soft loans to start small irrigation Kits and also help them in marketing their produce. This is intended to help minimize the price fluctuations.
Housing
ASAT development foundation has acquired an interlocking soil brick making machine that we are using to make bricks to help the community build better houses. The Samburu normally live in poorly ventilated houses known as the Manyatta and ASAT development foundation intends to use the bricks to improve these manyattas and also help the community harvest water by using better and modern roofing. This year, organization participated in the world habitat day and was able to exhibit the various building techniques that we are introducing in the marginalized areas
Education
ASAT development foundation aims to advance education level of the pastoralist community by supporting all the good education initiatives. With this in mind the organization has been able to distribute various educational materials including books, uniforms and computers to various schools in Samburu district. The organization aims to continue supporting education initiatives and in particular those targeting girls from the marginalized communities.
The organization also runs an adult education program.
Women empowerment
The organization has started various programs aimed at empowering women’s social economic status one of this programmes being agribusiness (Green house) farming which enables the women earn some income and also improve their families’ standards of living. The organization also engages the women in various capacities building workshops on governance, human rights and gender issues .Through its education support programme the organization addresses the educational empowerment of pastoralist girls as a away of achieving women empowerment for the marginalized communities
Renewable Energy.
ASAT development foundation has introduced renewable energy in various parts of Samburu District and already a wind mill has been bought and installed at Kirimon area with a capacity to light up 30 homesteads in the vicinity. This has changed the lifestyle of the people since they can now charge their phones and also be able to use electronic gargets like computers and thus connecting them to the outside world through sharing of information and ideas. The organization aims to replicate this in all areas that are hot near the mains power supply in Samburu district with the aim of opening them up.
The organization is also in the process of initiating Biogas production in the homesteads to produce gas and light for the households.
Resource Center.
ASAT is in the process of establishing a resource center where the community can access information on issues of development and other areas of their interest.

Action for women Development (AWD) works in south Somalia helping the disadvantaged girls in south; we have skilled hundreds of girls in the IDPs camps through different skills, those projects were funded by Africa Educational Trust. For this we would like to know if it is possible to seek funds from Stars Foundation as we are very small organization.
We are doing vocational training to the disadvantaged girls specially those who live in the IDPs. This will normally do in the form of direct skill training. Several hundreds advantaged from the project are now earning their daily income through the skills that we have offered
The main purpose or focusing these girls is to eliminate unemployment in the camps and teach them income earning method, specially the IDPs girls as they are the only recourse that the families have in Somalia. Our institution is small organization.
I don’t know why Stars Foundation doesn’t want to help the Somali disadvantaged children stays in Mogadishu and suburb
I am sure stars foundations have helped different projects in Africa and advantaged by the people in Africa, but we haven’t seen is small project funded by Stars Foundation in Somalia, so I wanted to ask them why?
All good wishes

This is a wonderful opportunity.Here is WOMEN INTEGRATED INITIATIVE FOR DEVELOPMENT (WIIDE) an NGO based in Kapchorwa Distict -Uganda that promotes and protects the rights of women and Girl-child as this place is known for its cultural practice of Female Genital mutilation.
WIIDE was established to create awareness of women's rights through capacity development of relevant stakeholders and to empower women economically.
It has come to our notice that women's righs are abused and violated because of their vulnerability caused by society.Our community is partriachal where there is high male dominance who are the center of all decisions made and ofcourse at their (Male) favour.
The question is for how long should this continue?
Its against this back ground that WIIDE was initiated to promote development that focuses on women and girl-child in order to change our society.

Vite-N-Hope under its mandate is striving for the rehabilitation of sexually exploited children by providing them educational facilities through its thirteen Educational and Counselling Centres (ECC’s) in marginalized communities.
In this regard, Vite-N-Hope has successfully completed a UNICEF sponsored project titled” Recovery and Reintegration of commercial sexual exploitation of children in selected areas of Lahore district” during 2005-2009. The project was initiated based on the study carried on situation analysis of CSEC in 2004, which provided the baseline of over 9,000 children below the age of 18 involved in commercial sex in Lahore district alone. The VNH took the challenge and reached about 5,000 child victims (64% female). The project evolved strategies to recovery and reintegrate children with their families or with Child Protection and Welfare Bureau for shelter and care. Over 300 such children have been provided such protective services. The other children were provided education and counselling services at dedicated 13 EC Centres.
Vite-N-Hope has received online recognition for its projects by UNICEF (UNICEF Pakistan – Real lives). UNICEF – Pakistan – Centre in Pakistan provides alternatives for and an IKEA project (Soft Toy Campaign 2007). Pakistan: 19000 children work as sex workers in Lahore [News] Child Prostitution – Pakistan.
But being the organization of underdeveloped country our financial resources are very limited (less than $US 100,000 annually). So your management must allow to participate these organizations which have their resources less than $US 100,000 to get the optimum results. This program is for the organizations which are striving for the disadvantageous children belong to poor areas like Pakistan. So you are requested for the relaxation in this area.
Best regards,
Dr. Ikram-ul-Islam
