It “is designed to give you innovative tools to shape public opinion in cutting-edge media while strengthening your intercultural and leadership skills. You will be part of an exclusive network that will boost creativity and support your personal and professional development, while also laying the platform for a more connected future. “
Applications can be submitted by “Young open-minded opinion-makers in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia, West Bank-Gaza and Sweden* who are actively working for democracy and human rights within the spheres of media, culture, society, business and politics: journalists, bloggers, artists, activists, project managers, youth party leaders, politicians, government civil servants, lawyers, teachers and researchers. The Swedish Institute will appoint a selection committee consisting of staff from the Swedish Institute as well as representatives from partner organizations and field experts. The applications will be evaluated according to the following selection criteria:
- The relevance and quality of the personal motivation and commitment, and the applicant’s answers to the YLVP questionnaire
- An assessment of the CV and recommendations
- The general qualifications of the applicant.
The Swedish Institute will make its decision based on the final selection, taking into account the recommendations of the selection committee as well as the candidates’ general suitability for the program.
Out of all applicants, a number of shortlisted candidates will be called for interviews as a second step of the selection process. The interviews will be conducted through Skype. Results will be announced by April, 2010.
The Swedish Institute will compose a list of reserve candidates for a possible second-hand selection. If you’re not announced as a reserve candidate during April, you’re not on the reserve list.
A total of twenty five applicants will be selected to attend YLVP 2010. As far as possible SI will ensure there is an even distribution of candidates from the different countries.
The deadline to apply for the program is 28 February 2010. For more information, visit this link.
