UHAI – The East African Sexual Health and Rights Initiative (EASHRI) has announced a call for proposals for its fourth round of grantmaking to support civil society activism on issues relating to sexuality, health and human rights in East Africa.
UHAI, meaning ‘Alive’ or ‘Life’ in Kiswahili, is an acronym for the words Ujinsia (Sexuality), Haki (Rights), Afya (Health) and Imani (Faith). It aims to build a strong, diverse and organised movement for change, and to enhance the knowledge and expertise of donors supporting sexual rights in East Africa. UHAI is based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Organizations based in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi can apply for this opportunity. UHAI will prioritise funding for organisations and programmes led by and focused on sexual minorities and
MSM/WSW health and rights within East Africa but will also consider project grants for organisations which are working with sexual minorities but not necessarily led by them.
The deadline to submit proposals is 18 March 2011. For more information, download the document in any of the following languages.
