International, national and local NGOs working in the area of press and journalism around the world are invited to submit nominations for the World Press Freedom Prize, organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).The World Press Freedom is awarded to an individual or an organization, working for the defense of press freedom in areas where a risk is involved. The World Press Freedom Prize provides a grant of US $25,000 and it is awarded on the World Press Freedom Day.
Organizations can send nominations of up to three candidates, but no self-nominations are accepted. The last date for submission of nominations is 15 January 2009. For more information, visit the link here.
