USAID Grant Support for Conflict Mitigation and Reconciliation Work

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has issued a call for applications from NGOs (local and international) to support activities that mitigate conflict and encourage reconciliation work among various ethnic and religious communities. The grant support is available only in select countries, which include the following:

Africa:
Angola, Burundi, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana (restricted to northern Ghana), Kenya, Liberia, Niger, Malawi, Mali (restricted to northern Mali: Regions of Timbuktu, Gao, and Kidal), Rwanda, Senegal (restricted to the Casamance region), Somalia, Uganda (restricted to Karamoja) and Zimbabwe.

Asia:
Bangladesh, East Timor, Kyrgyzstan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Thailand,
Middle East, Israel-West Bank/Gaza and Yemen.

Europe and Eurasia:
Bosnia & Herzegovina and Moldova

Latin America and the Caribbean:
Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Guyana and Haiti.

The minimum amount for the grant is US $100,000 and the maximum amount is US $600,000 for each project proposed. This grant opportunity is made through more than one round of application call, so the first deadline is 5 June 2009. The overall deadline for submitting proposals under this call is 27 October 2009.
