The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Macedonia is seeking applications from eligible prospective Macedonian organizations to fund a program entitled LGBTI Inclusion to seek, provide independent oversight of government and party activity without being harassed, sued, and demonized.
Objectives
- Increasing awareness of LGBTI rights and advocacy.
- Ensuring a safe place for vulnerable members of the community.
- Developing institutional capacity by facilitating networks and the engagement of the LGBTI community members with each other (nationally and regionally), the broader CSO community, and local and national institutions.
- Assist LGBTI CSOs to build alliances with human rights and media CSOs to combat hate speech and exclusionary narratives.
Funding Information
- Subject to the availability of funds, USAID/Macedonia anticipates awarding one Cooperative Agreement in amount of $300,000.
- The duration of the proposed program should be 18 months. The anticipated start date for this activity is on or about August 1, 2016.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications should be from qualified local, Macedonian entities, such as private, non-profit organizations (or for-profit companies willing to forego profits), including private voluntary organizations, universities, research organizations, professional associations, and relevant special interest associations.
- USAID defines a local organization as one that:
- Is organized under the laws of the recipient country
- Has its principal place of business in Macedonia
- Is majority-owned by individuals who are citizens or lawful permanent residents of the recipient country or is managed by the governing body, the majority of whose members are citizens or lawful permanent residents of Macedonia
- Is not controlled by a foreign entity or by an individual or individuals who are not citizens or permanent residents of Macedonia.
- USAID will not accept applications from individuals.
