The United State Agency for International Development (USAID) is inviting U.S. and Non-U.S. qualified organizations to implement youth activities in Kenya.
“The Yes Youth Can! Program (“Program”), under USAID’s new Strategic Objective of strengthening and sustaining Kenya’s post-election recovery, will empower youth by providing robust support to: address the multiple facets of youth livelihoods that impede their ability to develop diverse viable entrepreneurial skills and employment opportunities; engage as citizens in local and national issues that affect them; and empower themselves to be positive forces for change in their communities. It reflects the commitment of the Obama Administration to support genuine change in Kenya and an authentic voice for youth in shaping the future. Authentic empowerment of youth means program design must embed youth ownership at all levels in every activity; it must enhance leadership capabilities of the youth themselves for self-development; and it must expand genuine voice to promote youth interests and youth needs advocated by youth organizations with capabilities to be agents of change.”
“The goal of the activities for the Yes Youth Can! APS is to empower Kenyan youth by developing leadership and organizations, promoting inter-ethnic understanding, facilitating innovation, providing technical assistance, and channeling resources to at-risk youth in key provinces to improve competitiveness; Create jobs and new market opportunities; Enhance youth voices in policy dialogue and interethnic coalitions, and; Generate new possibilities for community well-being.”
