The Vodafone Americas Foundation is offering funding grants of up to US $600,000 to projects around the world that have implemented innovative activities relating to the wireless technology. The opportunity is opened only to organizations based in the United States, but the project could possibly be implemented anywhere in the world. NGOs with strong partnerships with US-based international organizations can present joint proposals that highlight the innovation in projects based on the use of mobile and wireless technology. They have been many initiatives of this kind in developing countries and there is, of course, greater scope to expand such interventions in communities.
Interested organizations can check the eligibility criteria and also take the eligibility test online. They can then fill the application form and submit the project for consideration. The deadline for submission of projects is 2 February 2009. More information is available at this link.
