Mama Cash provides grant support to organizations and initiatives led by and for women and girls. Funding is made available for NGOs as well as for informal groups of activists and networks. Besides, it also funds initiatives led by lesbians, bisexual women, women living with HIV/AIDS, indigenous women, sex workers, women with disabilities, women who are refugees, migrants or displaced and others. Before applying for funding here, all applicants have to read through what Mama Cash funds and what it does not.
Mama Cash does not accept unsolicited full proposals, but eligible grant seekers can submit a Letter of Interest (LOI) which is accepted and reviewed round the year.
To submit an LOI, applicants have to download the form (available in Enlish, French and Spanish) at this link.
The LOI form itself is quite lengthy – at least the questions themselves run for four pages. But this is only a Letter of Interest. If this is accepted, then Mama Cash will further contact you to submit a full proposal.
The Letter of Interest form seeks detailed information about your organization (especially whether it is relevant and related to the interests of Mama Cash). There is also a section where it also requests information about the grant purpose where you need to answer questions related to your project. The form seeks very detailed information about the budget of your organization but for the project budget, you only need to mention the total cost.
