Deadline- July 31, 2012
The American Council on Germany (ACG) is seeking applications for 2012 Anna-Maria and Stephen M. Kellen Fellowships. Kellen Fellowships provide an opportunity for exceptional German print, broadcast, and new-media journalists who live and work in Berlin to travel to the United States for up to 21 days to conduct interviews with policymakers and cultural leaders, research timely articles, and gain an introduction to the inner workings of the American press system. Fellowships may be extended for up to 7 additional days if a compelling need for extra time is demonstrated in the application.
Kellen Fellowships provide transatlantic roundtrip airfare, pre-approved inter-city travel, and a daily stipend of $200 to cover housing, meals, and local transportation. Fellows are encouraged to travel to multiple cities in the United States to conduct research and interviews, consult their peers, and pursue stories of their own interest and design. Travel to the United States must take place within one year of being awarded the fellowship. Fellows develop their itineraries in close consultation with the American Council on Germany, and within 60 days following the completion of the trip, fellows are required to submit a report summarizing their findings.
Eligibility-
Applicants must be mid-career journalists who hold German citizenship and live and work in Berlin. Working knowledge of the English language is a prerequisite for a fellowship.
