The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation has awarded a grant of $50,000 to the Kosova Women’s Network for General Purposes.
With this grant, the Network will work to “to strengthen women’s participation in community development initiatives and in local- and national-level decision making…With 88 member organizations from all of Kosovo’s ethnic communities, in 2008-2009 the network raised public awareness about the need for public financing of women’s shelters and women’s participation in political life, conducted research to inform relevant public policy debates, and provided development and technical assistance to network members. During the grant period, the network will focus on empowering women to participate in politics and decision-making processes, promoting compliance with a code of conduct for members, and increasing cooperation between Albanian and Serb women’s organizations.
