The organization was formed after rapid rural appraisal indicated that there was:
• High school dropout rates.
• The community continue practice of some retrogressive practices such as female genital mutilation (F.G.M) and early marriages
• Continued food and agro- income insecurity at both family and community level.
• The environment is degraded and cover crop destroyed due to poor farming techniques and overstocking.
• Increase in the number of orphaned children due to HIV/AIDS and frequent deaths caused by the disease.
• Poor information transfers thus the community lagging behind in development programs.
CIFORD VISION.
A self-reliant rural community that is able to evolve a sustainable community development.
CIFORD MISSION STATEMENT.
Solicit, accessing and build up resources necessary to facilitate, develop and empower the rural poor to participate effectively in their development process.
CIFORD OBJECTIVES.
1. To identify and strengthen community development structures appropriate to enhance development with a view of building their full capacity.
2. To adopt measures conducive to promote sustainable development.
3. To increase the level of community literacy with an aim to understand meaningful development to their situation.
CIFORD ACTIVITIES.
1. Community capacity building. empowering the rural communities to understand the issues which affect their own development. The communities are empowered to take up their own development initiatives. Some of the issues which are being addressed are girl child empowerment through the campaigns against female genital mutilation.
1.5.2 Sustainable agriculture: This is to enhance the food,nutrition and agro income secrity with enviromental consideration
1.5.3 STI/HIV/AIDS programmes.: In Kenya HIV/AIDs is a national disaster with all of us being infected or affected by the disease.
