The Evens Foundation initiates and supports sustainable projects, and awards biennial prizes, that contribute to the progress and strengthening of Europe based on cultural and social diversity.
The Evens Prize for Peace Education was launched in 2011 as part of its Peace Education Program. Through this prize, the foundation seeks to detect and recognize good practices in the field of conflict management education, the current focus of our peace education program.
Evens Foundation through the Peace Education prize focuses on skills that facilitate a constructive attitude towards conflict. It initiates, develops and supports projects that encourage people and ultimately nations to live together harmoniously in a diverse Europe. It promotes respect for diversity, both individual and collective and works to strengthen people’s physical, psychological and moral integrity.
About the Programme
The Prize for Peace Education is about teaching and learning the skills and attitudes needed to manage and/or resolve conflicts so that they do not escalate into violence. It is about developing tolerance, understanding and respect for others, as well as self-respect. It involves an understanding of (structural) injustice and is inextricably linked to human rights and democracy.
