Executive Summary
Millions of refugees worldwide face disrupted education, limited job opportunities, and social marginalization due to forced displacement. The “Empowering Refugees through Education and Livelihoods” project aims to enhance access to education, vocational training, and income-generating opportunities for refugees, fostering self-reliance, resilience, and social integration.
Through community learning centers, skill development programs, and partnerships with local organizations and employers, the initiative will equip refugees with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to rebuild their lives. This project contributes to Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by addressing educational and livelihood gaps in refugee communities.
Background and Problem Statement
Refugees often face multiple barriers to education and employment:
- Interrupted Education: Many children and youth lose access to schooling due to displacement.
- Limited Vocational Opportunities: Adults struggle to find meaningful work due to lack of skills or legal employment barriers.
- Social Marginalization: Refugees face cultural, linguistic, and economic barriers to integration.
- Poverty and Vulnerability: Lack of livelihoods leads to reliance on humanitarian aid and limits self-sufficiency.
Without targeted interventions, refugee populations remain vulnerable, with limited prospects for education, employment, and social inclusion.
