This proposal seeks funding to establish a high-quality pre-kindergarten (Pre-K) education program aimed at enhancing early childhood development for children from low-income families.
The program will provide access to quality Pre-K education, focusing on cognitive, social, and emotional development, ensuring that all children enter school ready to learn and succeed. By investing in early education, we aim to reduce achievement gaps, improve long-term educational outcomes, and contribute to the overall well-being and economic prosperity of our community.
Early childhood is a critical period for brain development, with research showing that 90% of a child’s brain develops before the age of five. However, many children, particularly those from low-income families, do not have access to quality early education, which significantly impacts their school readiness and future success.
In our target community, only 40% of children aged 3-5 are enrolled in a structured early childhood program, resulting in a considerable gap in school readiness and early achievement. The lack of access to quality Pre-K education perpetuates cycles of poverty and limits opportunities for these children.
