Improve Life of Women and Marginalized People through Computer Education

The project goal is to bring a knowledge of computer among children who still don’t know even the meaning of computer, to infuse the knowledge of Information technology among children, make them enable to interact with computer and familiarize them with issues in life with the objective like to provide children a quality computer education/knowledge and guidance under the supervision of experienced and qualified hired teachers and to provide them not only basic computer education but also introduce them other courses like MS office, Adobe Photoshop, Coral Draw, and other normally used software’s education whenever is possible. Establishment of Project Steering Committee Orientation of Staff/ Project Steering Committee Creating good environment. Furnishing the place keeping in view the likes and ease of children Purchasing of items like computers, chairs and tables other accessories. Publishing of brochures and other items of advertisement are the activities of the project.

Continuing Project

We are proposing to donate used computer systems to various schools, at the first stage we propose to distribute 200 numbers of computers and continue this movement for next four to five rounds of 200 numbers to achieve 1000 Nos of computers.

Brief Introduction of our Club:

xxxxxx of Poona Midtown incorporated as a non-Profit voluntary Organization, working for community development through, special emphasis on marginalized people especially young girls, children and women at grassroots level in Dist. Pune, India.

The organization founded in 1971 by a group of dedicated social workers. It is registered voluntary organization. It is a NGO that has been working on different issues such as, Women Development, Children Development, Primary Health Care, Health and Hygiene, literacy and basic education etc. since 1971.

The focus of our organization is on community development through the participation of its own people. Our role is to strengthening and empowering the communities to perceive their own problems/needs, and to solve them through collective action and participation.

Background Information/Statement of the problem/Justification Information on Target Area/Target Population

Proposed Geographical Location: City Pune

Pune is the Educational Hub of the Country, with various colleges and institutions of all most all streams of education. If we travel about 50 to 70 kms from Pune city educational growth is almost nil as all rush to city area to seek education in city schools. Fees of these schools and colleges are much higher and poor students cannot bear and afford. The rapid increase in population and lack of required resources according to the needs of the people is making it very much hard for the people to fulfil their needs. The poor communities cannot give their children a good education and proper diet. So due to dearth of required needs in their childhood they get involved and a take a way for wrong practices

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

We are taking an initiative for providing a computer education for poor children of the society who don’t know even the meaning and purpose of computer. How can they be prosperous in life when computer is used in almost every field of life? For this reason, we visited many thickly populated and backward areas of Pune District and found hundreds of children without a computer education/ knowledge or has no access to education as education is the basic right of humanity. So we have taken this initiative to provide a platform to such children so that they can have at least basic computer education and at least they can be able to interact with computer and know its functions and different uses and be prosperous in life. Although there are many IT/Computer centres in the city but due to high fee people are unable to give such education to them and mostly schools have no computer literacy/training for children and the schools who have such modern facilities, again they are out of reach of such poor and depressed people.

Our achievement

For this educational project for children 30-40 schools from rural areas are registered with us. These schools’ children are girls and boys staying in villages, we are planning to provide at least five computers per schools. If we funds are sufficient enough, we can go on adding schools as well number of schools in this project

Goal of the project

To contribute toward the educational development of children and to acquaint them with modern world through modern technology and knowledge and make them enable to become prosperous in life.

Objectives

The overall objectives of the project are:

To provide children a quality computer education/knowledge and guidance under the supervision of experienced and qualified hired teachers.
To provide the children an environment they would feel easy in learning and feels no hesitation and hindrance.
To provide them not only basic computer education but also introduce them other courses like MS office, Adobe Photoshop, Coral Draw, and other normally used software’s education whenever is possible
To conduct activities other than course education to develop their interest in learning.
To arrange tests of children to know the learning standard and ability of understanding to increase their knowledge.
To give small gifts in tests in order to increase their interest and yearn to compete more.

Implementation of Project Activities

According to planned activities we have identified schools where experienced and qualified experts are already available for guidance as training to students and other staff. These schools have got available room and place suitable to set up computer centre in which they would get benefitted.

The Computer education system of our Organization is a continuing project and wants to run it as long as it can. The computer education is very essential for them. We also meeting with other organizations and institutions who would be helping us for such kind cause and better future of children because children are the assets of nation. They would be helping within their limited resources.

Description

This project is proposed as continuing project through which children of poor communities of dist. Pune and around, will be provided facilities and opportunities for computer/IT education promoting healthy communities who can further contribute in social uplift nation building.

xxxxxx of Poona Midtown with the support of Donors will establish a computer educational institution at Dist. Pune and around where number of poor children will get benefit.

In order to implement this project, a Steering Committee at Organizational level will be made consisting of 4 people (1 board of directors, Chair Person, Computer experts and a community representative). This committee will purchase all project items and make necessary arrangements regarding project execution and monitoring.

Proposed Monitoring and Evaluation Plan

Monitoring & Evaluation: Regular monitoring of the project will be done by the Organization with the involvement of the Executive Member. Quarterly reports will be provided to the Donors with pictorial view and activities.

Expected Results/Outcome

The project in planned or arranged keeping in view the poor rural school children who cannot afford the good quality computer education, so everything is decided to give at least basic computer knowledge/education to poor children.
