The overall objective of this project is to promote youth and women empowerment through skills training and capacity building to become self-defendant, contribute to the development of the area as well as that of the country. Specific objectives include enhancing the financial abilities of women and youth to enable them to provide basic needs in their families i.e., educating their children mainly focusing on the girl child. In addition, equip the youth and women with vocational skills to improve on their social-economic status ensuring the elimination of all kinds of violence against youth and women through full participation in economic and social spectra at all levels. Major activities in this project include training youth and women vocational skills like tailoring, baking carpentry, liquid soap making, etc., entrepreneurial skills, establishing a learning center, providing sports materials for youth as a way of creating peace amongst them.
Abstract
Kiryandongo refugee settlement in Beyale provides support to more than 100000 people with shelter, food and land however it is comprised of refugees from Kenya, South Sudan, Rwanda, Congo etc. Arise and Shine Association wants to partner with UNHCR in supporting kiryandongo refugee settlement, the surrounding community of Bweyale with vocational and entrepreneurial skills.
XXXXXXXXX, a local non-government organization that aims at working with both local and international partners tackling poverty issues, promoting peace, and those contributing development either social or economic or political. The proposed project is championing for empowerment of youth and women by building their competences and capacities and this will be achieved by conducting entrepreneurial and vocational trainings in two months period skills which will equip them with necessary skills and experience to manage their businesses effectively. This project will empower them with other skills for strategic decision-making processes that take place at varying levels in social economic issues of the region.

Specific Objective
Specific objectives include; to enhance financial abilities of women and youth to enable them provide basic needs in their families i.e., educating their children mainly focusing on the girl child. In addition, equip the youth and women with vocational skills to improve on their social economic status ensuring elimination of all kinds of violence against youth and women through full participation in economic and social spectra at all levels. Major activities in this project include training youth and women on vocational skills like tailoring, baking carpentry, liquid soap making etc., entrepreneurial skills, establishing a learning center, providing sports materials for youth as a way of creating peace amongst them. The total budget needed for this project is US $ 20000. The project duration will be from June 2019 to June 2020. The direct beneficiaries of this project are 300 youth and women basing on the vulnerability that will be judged by the extent, however the association expects at least 180 youth and women to complete the training in vocational, entrepreneurial skills successfully.
Relevance of Project
Relevance of the project includes; women empowerment is relevant to communities for sustainable development, Sustainable development accepts environmental protection, social economic development and without this empowerment, women feel like they are not important and have no value in their communities towards the process of development. Full participation of women is critical for development and without equal inclusion women would not be able to contribute to social economic changes which have an impact in their lives as well as a negative impact on the country’s GDP. Lastly but not least, empowerment of the youth and women ensures that they are equipped with skills to sustain a livelihood reducing on crime cases like drug abuse, prostitution, theft, gambling etc. and this in turn contributes to development of peace in communities and reduction on the poverty levels of the different areas.
