The Commonwealth Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of a Special Grants Initiative for Civil Society Organizations and Commonwealth Associations in partnership with the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) to undertake strategic and innovative projects that will promote the Commonwealth theme for 2012, “Connecting Cultures”.
In May 2011, the Commonwealth Foundation announced a special grants initiative to promote the Commonwealth theme of ‘Women as Agents of Change in celebration of the significant contributions that women make to development and their untapped potential as agents of change.
ELIGIBILITY:
Applicant organisations must:
- be registered or incorporated as ‘non-profit’ civil society organisation or Commonwealth Association in a Commonwealth Foundation member country to apply. A full list of Commonwealth Foundation member countries currently eligible to receive a grant is enclosed in the application pack.
- engaged in work relevant to Commonwealth values, strategic objectives and priorities;
- be able to demonstrate accountability and good governance;
- have well-defined strategic goals and objectives.
We will not support:
- Government employees
- The private sector
- Political parties
- Academic study or research
- Core funding (such as salaries of permanent staff, office rental and general running costs)
HOW TO APPLY:
- Application packs should be downloaded from our website at http://www.commonwealthfoundation.com/Howwedeliver/Grants/Specialgrantsfund
- Each application must be accompanied by a full budget in GBP for the activity, a budget showing what the Foundation’s funds will cover, a programme and list of participants where relevant.
- Completed application form must be submitted by email to cfgrants@commonwealth.int from where applicants will receive an acknowledgement. Enquiries should be sent to s.ossman@commonwealth.int
Please note: Applications submitted on the wrong form and incomplete applications will not be processed. Each eligible organization can only submit one application. If an organization is already in receipt of a grant from the Commonwealth Foundation or is considering applying for a grant that will not be completed and reported on by June 2012, it will not be eligible to apply under this initiative.
