The Perspektivy, a joint initiative by the Thomson Reuters Foundation, the Robert Bosch Stiftung and the Fritt Ord Foundation is inviting young journalists for training programme in Russia. The program’s aim is to develop skills on (media) reporting and its promotion in the challenging environment of the digital era.
Objectives
- To strengthen regional expertise and professional journalistic standards across the region, from the remotest areas of Siberia to the Baltic states and nations in Central Asia.
- To reflect upon the ethical underpinnings of the journalistic profession
- To internationalize participating journalists and connect them with one another
- To contribute to mutual regional and international understanding.
Benefits
Selected participants will:
- Take part in an intensive workshop (taking place from 14 until 18 September 2015 in Moscow) covering reporting skills, advice on the visualization of stories, fact checking using the internet, and on promoting news in the social media. For those coming from outside of Moscow, Perspektivy will cover the costs of your airfare, accommodation, travel within Moscow, and provide a small per diem.
- Have the chance to take part in a subsequent training session, taking place from 15 to 16 October, and in November. Successful candidates will work on research projects in teams, while receiving a grant and being mentored by experienced trainers.
- Become a member of an international network of journalists.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be:
- Aged 21-30 years,
- With at least two years of professional experience,
- With a proven motivation to stay in the profession in the future,
- Working in any medium or multiple media (print, online, radio or television),
- Whose working language is Russian and who are professionally based anywhere in Russia,
- Both freelancers and staff journalists may apply. Journalists working for a news organization will need the consent of their editor to take part. Freelancers should provide evidence of their collaboration with one or more media organizations which publish their works on a regular base.
