The International Development Research Center (IDRC) is accepting applications from individuals for the Internship Awards where individuals get an opportunity to undertake research on international development in Canada. Individuals from developing countries, as well as from Canada, can apply for the awards. Basic eligibility includes that the applicant has to be either pursuing a Master’s Degree or have complete one in the relevant subject. Applications which have a research interest in countries and regions such as Burma, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Eastern Europe, or Central Asia are not accepted.
Selected applicants will be trained in the policies and programmes of IDRC and they will get hands-on experience in research and grants administration including creation, dissemination and utilization of knowledge. The programme areas covered for the Awards include the following:
- Social and Economic Policy;
- Environment and Natural Resource Management;
- Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) for Development; and
- Innovation, Policy, and Science.
The length of the internship will be from 6-12 months. All interns will be based either at the IDRC headquarters in Ottawa, Canada or in its regional offices in developing countries. The last date to apply for the Awards is 12 September 2009. For more information, visit this link.
