Call for applications are invited at The Summer Institute in the Arts & Humanities. The institute selects and supports twenty undergraduates to engage in intensive research projects under the supervision of four interdisciplinary instructors. The students selected are named Mary Gates Scholars and receive a Mary Gates Research Scholarship of $4000. Participants enroll in 12 academic credits for this full-time research immersion experience. This year’s Institute explores the power of borderlands.
Through the development of individual research projects, students will gain experience in cross-disciplinary and collaborative research methods and practice. UW (Bothell, Seattle, & Tacoma) undergraduates with interest about borders of race, place, community and political formations along with cultural practices from arts, humanities or social science majors are invited to apply.
The Summer Institute in the Arts & Humanities is sponsored by Undergraduate Academic Affairs, the Simpson Center for the Humanities, the Office of Research, Summer Quarter, the Undergraduate Research Program, and the Mary Gates Endowment for Students.
