The British Columbia Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres (BCAAFC) is calling applications for the Urban Partnerships program. The motive of the program is to increase the participation of urban aboriginal people in the economy.
Thematic areas
- Youth – It is for 16-24 age people to enhance capacity, self advocacy, develop life skill, skill acquisition, and to remove barriers.
- Innovation – It is a high impact initiative that will increase self reliance and systems change.
- Social Enterprise – It is for business start up or pilots, skill development, expansion and promotion of existing social enterprise.
Applicants must apply under one funding stream only. Projects are eligible to receive up to $85,000 in UP funding.
The Friendship Centre movement is built on community support, trust, strong leadership, tradition and faith and is mandated to improve the quality of life for Aboriginal Peoples throughout Canada. Located in Victoria BC, the BCAAFC is the umbrella association for 25 Friendship Centres throughout the Province of British Columbia.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible organizations/institutions include Incorporated not-for-profit organizations, Aboriginal representative organizations, Municipal governments, Education authorities and institutions, Health authorities and institutions, and For-profit enterprises.
- Urban Partnerships expenditures are eligible only if they demonstrate direct delivery of projects or initiatives that advance the participation of urban Aboriginal people in the Canadian economy.
