The International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) is currently accepting application from individuals for the post of internship undertaking a research on various thematic programs in low and middle income countries.
3ie provide funds for research and a number of public goods focused on improving the quality of evidence available for development research, policymaking, and programme design. It implements social and economic development programmes in low- and middle-income countries with annual expenditures of at least US$1 million. 3ie’s Impact Evaluation Services (IES) promote impact evaluation research and help increase transparency in social science research.
The internship during the research may be paid with or without credit or unpaid with credit. For a paid internship, the candidate must provide proof of permission to work in the United States.

Work Schedule for Interns
- The Impact Evaluation Intern will serve as a research assistant to the IES technical staff.
- Contributing to the IES Replication Programme and the Impact Evaluation Repository
- Contribute in Data Services and the Expert Roster.
- Provide occasional assistance to other 3ie staff related to other research areas, operations and events.
The internship is for 35 to 40 hours a week for up to six months. The intern will work on site in 3ie’s Washington office in New York.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have
- Completed or pursuing graduation in economics, political science, or any other relevant social science, along with completed undergraduate degree.
- Working knowledge of experimental and quasi-experimental methods of rigorous impact evaluation.
- Have experience conducting econometric analysis.
- Knowledge of international development policies and programmes.
- Analytical writing skills in English.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
