World Association of Newspapers & News Publishers is currently accepting submissions of entries from innovative youths around the world for its Young Reader prizes 2015. The World Young Reader Prizes are awarded annually to innovative news publishers of ages 25 and under.
The awards will be presented on 3 September 2015 in Mumbai, India, during WAN-IFRA India 2015 Conference & Expo, where winners will get a free, once-in-a-lifetime chance to mingle with South Asia’s leading news publishers.
Awards Categories
- Top award– World Young Reader News Publisher of the Year: A news publisher that has succeeded by putting youth at the core of its strategy. Twice, this award has honored an entire country’s youth work: Brazil in 2005 and India in 2013.
- Two Special Categories for 2015
- Digital First: A news publisher strategy that effectively and creatively engages youth primarily through tmobile telephones, tablets or other digital devices This category is kindly supported by CCI Europe, a leading provider of editorial and advertising solutions for cross-media news environments.
- Teaching Freedom: Actions that that effectively help youth understand the importance and fragility of freedom of expression and freedom of the press and teach about those who work and die in the service of these values.
- Six Core Categories
- Brand: Marketing projects that improve a news publisher’s brand relationship with the young
- Editorial: A news publisher editorial content strategy targeting the young.
- News in education: Use of printed or digital news content in the teaching of news literacy, media literacy or of any other subject. Also included in this category are activities that give young people the chance to experience professional This category is kindly supported by the SitesAlive Foundation, an NIE project linked to the Vendée Globe solo sailing race.
- Public Service: Public service in areas such as the environment, press freedom, literacy, youth civic involvement, etc.
- Enduring: News publisher projects and activities more than two years old that continue to benefit both the young and the news publisher itself.
- Natasa Prize: for Newspaper Printing Plants: Projects by newspaper printing plants that effectively teach the young about newspapers and journalism.
