REACH- 2014 Project Inspire Grand Prize Winner for US$25,000
Project: Supporting Disadvantaged Young Women through Vocational Training and Job Placement Program
Location: Vietnam
The 2014 Project Inspire Grand winner award was given to REACH Project. The REACH is an Hanoi-based NGO which trains underprivileged youth, based on local industry and labour market requirements in 2012. The NGO targets youth from disadvantaged backgrounds, who stand a lower chance of being employed in a competitive labour market – especially women with special backgrounds, such as sex workers, victims of domestic violence or human trafficking.
Founded in 2008, REACH comprises of the Vietnames who runs vocational training courses in nine centres across Northern and Central Vietnam. The idea is to create different course options, which are in high demand in the job market. It also gives young people the freedom to learn a trade they like, such as hairdressing or nail art. With the US$25,000 grant, the REACH became a young change-maker with an inspired idea and can now implement their project in the field.
