Individuals, companies and communities from all fields, especially the software development, digital literacy, and education communities are invited to submit software applications for the Enabling Writers Grant Competition worth $100,000. The competition is an initiative of All Children Reading: A Grand Challenge for Development (ACR GCD) to incentivize the development of software solutions for writers. The software will easily create and export decodable and leveled fiction and non-fiction readers in mother tongue languages to help early primary students (i.e. grades one to three) learn to read.

- $100,000 to grand prize winner
- $12,000 each to top three finalists

- Global recognition from ACR GCD
- Expert feedback on their software from child development and digital education specialists
The three finalists’ innovations will be piloted and reviewed in three countries with ACR GCD partner programs. Grand Prize will be awarded to the highest performing software.
The winning software will be freely available and released to the public for open source development.

Eligibility Criteria
- Contestant can be from anywhere in the world from any professional background, preferably software development, digital literacy and education communities.
- Certain software specifications must be met:
- Readers should be able to be outputted to PDF and a common editable format in which layout is preserved when opened through free-to-use software (e.g. HTML); but if creating electronic readers, they should be outputted to at least .epub format.
- Software should be available on both Windows and Mac or Linux; or both an Android or iOS or Windows Mobile application.
- The software should be user friendly such that the font type& size, word and line spacing, number of words on a page, and sentence length are automatically set on the templates.
