The Global Innovation through Science and Technology Tech-I Competition 2014

The Global Innovation through Science and Technology (GIST) operating in 86 Emerging Economies invites interested scientists, entrepreneurs, researchers, and innovators to compete in the GIST Tech-I Competition 2014. These innovative science and technology entrepreneurs will compete at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Morocco.

The GIST Tech-I is a yearly competition for science and technology entrepreneurs from around the world.

Process

  1. The aspiring innovators pitch their ideas online.
  2. The global voting public and experts choose thirty contestants.

Prizes

  1. The selected 30 contestants will receive an all-expense paid trip to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit to showcase their ventures and receive intensive training.
  2. The winners will receive grants along with 2-3 months mentoring.

Categories

  • Idea Stage Application – The entrepreneur has
    1. Research or a technology with commercialization potential and is willing to start a business.
    2. Started thinking about the qualifications of the management team necessary to execute the idea.
    3. Started to identify advisors.
    4. Started market research.
  • Startup Stage Application
    1. Venture is for-profit and less than three years old from date of launching startup.
    2. Product or service is currently in a testing or pilot stage and not yet available for commercial release.
    3. Venture is either self-funded (revenue) or has external financing (either from public or private sources).

Applicants should submit

  • The Executive Summary narrative must be completed online. Word limit – 750 words, written in English.
  • A 90 Second Promotional Video (engaging and creative) highlighting the value and purpose of the product or service to customers.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be the citizen of GIST eligible country.
  • Applicants must be between the ages of 18-40 years by the deadline.
  • Application must be written in English language.
  • Submitted promotional video must be in English or have English subtitles provided.
