The Niras Natura in collaboration with the Centre for Environment and Sustainability (GMV) at the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology invites applications from working professionals from Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia to participate in 16 months advanced training program entitled Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA). The objective of the program is to strengthen SEA capacity in the participants’ organizations. The program will support each participant in initiating and developing an “SEA project” which will strengthen the use of SEA in planning processes that she/he is involved in.

The total duration of the training is 16 months beginning on December 2014 till March 2016. During this time, the participants will manage the SEAP development and implementation with the support and coaching of the program mentors and peers.
Sida will cover the program fee, accommodation, literature, and non-domestic travel to the regional course.
Training Phases
- Inception (3 months)
- Scheduled course in Sweden (3 weeks)
- Implementation (5 months)
- Scheduled course in Tanzania (2 weeks)
- Implementation (6 months)
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be the candidates from Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
- Only candidates nominated by the appropriate organizations and in accordance with national rules will be considered.
- Applicants must hold a key position at middle or high level in an organization with a clear role in implementing or developing SEA.
- Applicants must have the responsibility, mandate and ambition to manage a project related to strengthening SEA capacity in the organization.
- Applicants must have a relevant academic degree or have appropriate knowledge otherwise acquired.
- Applicants must be available and motivated for active participation through the whole training program.
- Nominators can be organizations and agencies that work actively with plans, policies and programs at national or regional levels and in different sectors for which SEA is required or may be applied.
- Applicants must have proficiency in English language and must undergo a medical examination before filling in the Medical statement in the application form.
- Applicants must have a well-functioning e-mail address, be an active user of e-mail and have regular, reliable access to the Internet.
