The Institute for the Advancement of Journalism (IAJ), South Africa in partnership with International Institute for Journalism (IIJ) of GIZ – Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit – based in Berlin, Germany invite young journalists to apply for a two-week training course on “Freedom and responsibility in the media: towards sustainable quality journalism in the SADC region” to be held at the IAJ in Johannesburg from November 7 -18, 2011.
IAJ is South Africa’s premier provider of short courses and residency programmes for journalists, communicators and media practitioners.
Target Audience
The program addresses young journalists from newspapers, news agencies, online media and radio stations in the SADC region.
About the Course
The course will be conducted in English at the IAJ’s Parktown Campus, Johannesburg, South Africa. The course aims at promoting media freedom and journalistic ethics thus enhance the quality of journalism in media houses in the SADC region.
15 participants will be admitted. They should have at least 2 years of professional experience on the job.
Cost Provisions
The international travel costs to and from the training venue will be borne by the IIJ on the condition that the publishing houses are not able to cover the costs. In addition, accommodation costs as well as daily allowances to cover meals will be borne by the organisers.
