Deadline to apply for Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP): 1 October 2013
Wageningen UR Centre for Development Innovation is organizing the Training on ‘Competing claims on natural resources ‘ in the Netherlands from 3 – 14 March 2014. Support to participate in this training programme is available from the Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP).
Conventional approaches tend to perceive either the state, or the community, or the market as being capable of offering easy solutions to resource conflicts. Practice, however proves different. To deal with conflicting interests and power imbalances, applicants will need a competing claims approach on natural resources. This two week course provides applicants with tools for natural resource management, based on extensive research. Applicants will apply them directly to case studies provided by participants.
This training is conducted by Wageningen UR Centre for Development Innovation.
Course objectives–

- practice a broad range of skills to manage conflict and facilitate informed negotiation processes
- review institutional arrangements that hamper or foster negotiated outcomes
