IREX is currently inviting applications for short-term travel grants (STG) program offering support to postdoctoral scholars and professionals to conduct research in Eastern Europe and Eurasia on issues relevant to the US Government.
Established in 1968, IREX is a non-profit organization working to promote positive changes in the world through leadership and innovative programs. The organization supports individuals and institutions to enable them making a vibrant society in their respective countries. IREX also aims to create opportunities for quality education for the people as well as for independent media and strong communities in each country of the world.
STG supports research for a maximum of eight weeks, allowing scholars to conduct shorter research trips without significantly affecting their teaching and work schedules.
STG Provisions
Scholars interested in STG can apply to conduct research in up to two countries for up to eight weeks. As part of the STG fellowship, participants are provided with visa assistance, international roundtrip transportation, a monthly allowance for housing and living expenses, and emergency evacuation insurance. STG fellows also have access to resources available in any of IREX’s field offices.
Eligibility
STG applicants must have a graduate degree (PhD, MA, MD, MBA, MFA, MPA, MPH, MLIS, MS, JD) at the time of application and must be a U.S. citizen.

Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.
