The World Nomads has launched an opportunity for students, emerging and non-professional writers and travel lovers around the globe with high proficiency in English to travel across Europe and chronicle the adventure on the road. The travel writing scholarship will be provided to three aspiring travel writers.
Prizes to 3 Scholarship recipients:
- A 2-day custom Travel Writing course in Berlin with mentor
- A 10-day bespoke road trip across Europe including transportation and accommodation.
- Round-trip airfare from and to Berlin and the country of residence.
- Enrollment in the MatadorU Travel Writing course (with 3 months unlimited access to the course)
- Travel insurance for the duration of the trip
- Publication of feature travel articles (4-5) from the road trip on World Nomads, GoEuro, Hostelworld and Matador Network.
- Publication of daily blog of road trip (along with photos) on World Nomads travel journal.
Timeline:
- 15 May 2014 – Application Deadline
- 6 June 2014 – Winner Announcement
- 15 August 2014 – Arrive in Berlin
- 16-17 August 2014 – Travel Writing Workshop
- 18-27 August 2014 – Solo European Road Trip
- 28 August 2014 – Depart to country or residence
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants can be students, emerging and non-professional writers and travel lovers from around the world with high degree of proficiency in English.
- Applicant must be comfortable traveling and working on her/his own.
- Applicant must need a current passport with at least six months left before expiry.
- Applicant must be at least 18 years of age by the deadline.
- Applicant must commit to be available for the entire assignment as the dates are set by World Nomads.
- Applicant must be an exceptional writer wants to adventure travel, experience new cultures and aspires to become a professional travel writer.
