The International Center for Not-For-Profit Law ICNL provides Freedom of Association Fund to Middle East North Africa Region to support innovative, results-oriented activities designed to promote the right to association or civil society law reform in the region.
The Fund will provide grants to support domestic efforts to create a more enabling environment for civil society. Grants will be in the amount of $5,000-$10,000.
ICNL is an international not-for-profit organization that promotes an enabling legal environment for civil society, freedom of association, and public participation around the world. ICNL has provided technical and research assistance to support the reform of laws affecting NGOs in over 100 countries.
The Freedom of Association Fund – Middle East North Africa is supported by USAID through a sub-award from the Freedom House Democracy Fund Global Human Rights Program.
Eligibility-
The Small Grants Program is open to Individuals and local organizations residing and working in the countries of the Middle East and North Africa Region.
In three pages or less, please describe proposal for improving the legal environment for civil society with the support of the Freedom of Association Fund – Middle East North Africa. Please address the following topics-
- Applicant’s experience on issues relating to the legal framework for civil society;
- The country or countries covered by applicant’s proposed activity;
- The proposed activity plan and timeline, recognizing that grant activities must be completed no later than June 30, 2013;
- The legal reform challenge or opportunity that applicant proposed activity seeks to address;
- How the proposed activity plan will advance the legal environment for civil society;
- Specific goals and how applicant will measure results
- The plan to sustain reform efforts beyond Freedom of Association Fund grant support.
To apply for a grant, applicants must submit the following items in English or Arabic-
- Application coversheet
- Resume, Curriculum Vitae (CV), or other statement of work history and education (no more than 3 pages)
- Proposal (no more than 3 pages).
