IDB Prize for Women’s Contribution to Development for Orgs and Individuals Worldwide

All eligible participants are invited to submit applications for Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Prize for Women’s Contribution to Development. This program aims to draw international attention to the vital role women play in developing their communities and the world. The Theme for the 1435H/2014G Prize is “Women’s Contribution to Food Security.”

Objectives- The Prize aims to RECOGNIZE, ENCOURAGE, INSPIRE and REWARD women’s participation in the socio-economic development process. It aims to-

  • Recognize
  1. the important role of women in IDB member countries and Muslim communities globally
  2. contributions made by individuals or organizations to improve the socio-economic status of women in IDB member countries and Muslim communities in non-member countries
  • Encourage
  1. efforts to improve women’s access to opportunities and resources to help them become active participants in developing their economy and society
  2. individuals and organizations that offer grants and resources to support the socio- economic development of women in their societies
  • Inspire
  1. women by promoting exemplary role models
  2. individuals and organizations to initiate and actively engage in all projects aiming at developing women and building their capacities
  • Reward
  1. individuals and organizations that are committed to improving the well-being and status of women locally, nationally, and globally
  2. actions that reinforce and strengthen the role of women as essential contributors to society as well as effective agents of change and development

Awards-

  • U.S. $ 50,000 for a woman or a group of women
  • U.S. $ 100,000 for an organization

Eligibility & Criteria-

  • Be a legally registered.
  • Not for-profit-organisation.
  • Be located in one of the IDB member countries or work in the Muslim communities of non-member countries.
  • Hold values and principles and exhibit work that do not conflict with those of the IDB.
  • Have activities that have proven to be effective.
  • Provide support to increase people’s access and provision of food.
  • Support projects/activities that are innovative.
  • Support projects/activities that are sustainable.
  • Exhibit a role that is exemplary and worthy of emulation.
  • Be nominated by an independent organization.
