The United Nations Trust Fund for the Second International Decade of the World’s Indigenous Peoples has issues the Call for Proposals under the United Nations Trust Fund’s Small Grants Programme. Organizations working for indigenous communities around the world can apply for this opportunity.
Since this is a small grant, grants of up to US $10,000 can be sanctioned to NGOs for a period of one year.
The projects funded have mostly covered the area of human rights (38%) and social and economic development (21%), with 33% focusing specifically on women and 29% on youth – a continually increasing trend. Also, of the funded projects, 57% provided an important opportunity for indigenous peoples to engage directly in dialogue with States. The projects have mainly been implemented with a local focus (76%), with a majority in the rural areas (67%).
This is definitely an ideal opportunity for grant-seeking NGOs working for indigenous peoples since they will face less competition from bigger organizations. Besides, the proposal writing process is quite simplified. To apply for this opportunity, make sure that you have read the application guidelines available at this link.
After going through the guidelines, you can download the application form at this link. It is also available in French, Spanish and Russian.
