The fourth section of the application form for the UN Trust Fund’s Small Grants Programme is seeking information about the objectives and results of the projects. It is assumed here that you are aware of the problems and issues faced by your indigenous community and you have done your research before starting to work on this application form. You are also aware which theme or area of interest your project will cover (health or education).
You can start with the main goal of your project. Remember that it is always better to have one goal in mind but you can have several objectives. So for example the single goal can be “Creating Rights’ Awareness for Indigenous People” or “Improving Healthcare Services for Tribal People.
Remember that the goal is a very broad aim and your organization is just part of many other entities working to achieve it. For example, in “Improving Healthcare Services…,” there will be government healthcare centers around your project area also working for the same aim.
The objectives have to be very clear and specific. This is because the project has to achieve it within the stipulated time period given here. Remember that the maximum project funding available is 12 months and whatever objectives you mention here have to be realistic i.e. achievable within this time frame.
Example objectives:
- To increase human rights and health awareness of indigenous communities
- To enhance knowledge of indigenous communities about land rights and access to natural resources
- To build capacities of indigenous communities in natural resource management for their sustainable development
- To increase the participation of indigenous communities in policy development on issues of health and/or education affecting them
- To enhance the understanding of reproductive health and its issues for indigenous women for achieving better maternal and child health
